Poor Benji Boy

Poor Benji, solids just aren't jiving with his tummy. He hasn't had a messy diaper in one. whole. week. We have tried prune juice, vasoline, water, oatmeal, pears and NOTHING! I feel so bad for him. The nurses have given us numerous things to try and we have exhausted all of them. If he doesn't go by tomorrow we go to the doc. Please pray for him, that his little body would give him some relief!

Update: Relief! Finally! Poor guy, he ate almost 8 ounces this afternoon now that he has some room in his belly!

This is What Happens When Mom Leaves the Room...

I love my brother...
Get this kid off me!!!
Abe can now move around like nobody's business. In the amount of time it takes me to put something in the sink, he manages to scoot over a foot and flip on top of his brother. Sometimes Ben doesn't mind...and sometimes he does. Brothers.

Way Back When-esday

I was going through the archives of our blog last night and ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT BELIEVE that this is what the boys used to look like! This is the night they were born, still pink and angry as fire about being out of my tummy. Later that evening, I was in the NICU and started crying because I couldn't see them both at the same time (Sounds dumb now, I guess blame it on the hormones!). Well two of the nurses actually broke protocol and put them together for us. It was life changing to see them together. They were SO tiny, yet so sweet and 100% ours. It was a pivotal moment in my life. One that I will never, ever forget. My tiny boys.

Gettin Loose, Gettin Loud, Gettin Crazy!

I guess this is what triplets would look like..As happy as I am to have a girl in the house, boy am I glad that you're just visiting Keely! Turn up the volume!

The Boys and Miss Keely Marie

Brent, Lorena and baby Keely are finally back from Italy! We are so happy that they are here and that we were able to introduce the kiddos to each other! They seem to have taken to each other quite well. I'll let you be the judge though...

According to Jer, Pt. II

It's always humerous to me how I find the sentimental side to our boys activities and Jeremy finds the practical. Case in point: Last night, Jer was feeding the boys squash for the first time. When I say for the first time, I mean feeding them at all! He was trying with all his might to perfect the two mouth feed with minimal mess but was failing miserably. The boys had it ALL over their face. He would spoon it in. They would spit it out. He would swipe the spoon across their face packing it back in then wipe them with a wet cloth. Well there I was sitting there watching him thinking to myself how beautiful it was to watch my husband feed the boys. How this was a "bonding" experience. I envisioned future McDonald's trips and sharing hot dogs at the ballgame, when Jeremy suddenly blurts out, "This isn't so bad, it's kind of like grouting tile!"
Sheesh. But I couldn't help but laugh. Yeah, I guess it is a little like grouting tile.

Uptown on a Saturday

This past Saturday Jer and I took the boys to our brand new (and extremely fabulous) CPK! For those of you not familiar with CPK, allow me to translate: California Pizza Kitchen. I happen to LOVE this place and have eaten there in Cali, Colo., and Maryland. So needless to say I am more than ecstatic that ours is finally open. Anyway, I digress...
So, CPK. The boys did outstanding!! We had so many onlookers and people stopping to talk to us. This is par for the course but Saturday was even above and beyond. The Deuce were just eating it up too! Just a smilin' and cooin' for anyone who would look their way. Alas, we still had a couple of people make the comment that feels like bambo shoots under my nails, "My! You've got YOUR hands full!!" Aghhhhh!!! I cannot stand this comment! It's funny too. While my boys are usually sitting or sleeping quietly, the commentor's children are almost always running around like someone gave them espresso and a free puppy!
So, CPK. We ate lunch and then walked Uptown (our version of Centerra Mall) and finally stopped to listen to a folk musician who was playing children's songs while a dozen little kids ran giggling through the fountains. It was one of those suprisingly fantastic days. You know, the kind where you have nothing planned and you think it's going to be a doozy but it ends up, well....WOW?! So here's a few from our happy boys in their stroller...

Bum Genius Update

I'm sure you all are wondering how cloth diapering is going. Sadly, I have nothing to report because we haven't begun yet. After I received my 6 diapers in the mail I realized how impossible it would be to "try" them out without all of the necessary accessories. So I bit the bullet and ordered the rest of the stuff. In total we will have 30 diapers, the diaper sprayer, 3 dozen cloth wipes, a roll of disposable liners, a wet bag for the the diaper bag, and a wet bag for our diaper pail. Whew! It seems like a lot but apparently it's all necessary (at least from what I've been told). The diapers are due to arrive Friday and I'm sure I'll be spending the weekend washing and re-washing them to make them more absorbable. I'm pretty nervous only because we've spent the last 6 months using disposable and I'm sure this is going to be a rude awakening. Either way, I committed now though. Wish me luck!!

First Foods-Yellow Squash

So since we're just a few days short of 6 months, I whipped up some squash puree* (yummy!) in the Beaba in preparation for their first tastes of "baby food." In place of their evening bottle, I put the boys in their high chairs and started spooning. Needless to say, they did not necessarily agree with my decision. They lasted only a few bites (if you can even call them that) before we threw in the towel and moved on to bottles. They might think they won this battle but what they don't know is there are four more containers in the fridge...
We want F-O-O-D!!! And why are we sitting in these chairs?
Abey
Benji
Ben's first bite, not too bad!
Aber's first bite, going....
going...
GONE!!! He's done folks!

*In all fairness to the boys, I try all of the foods that I make before I feed it to them!

Locks of Love

I did it! I cut my hair. 10 whole inches!! It has taken over two years and lots and lots of haircuts to keep it healthy enough to donate. It's a little strange and I still don't quite recognize myself in the mirror, but it's totally and completely worth it, 100%. I encourage you to check out this amazing non-profit organization, Locks of Love. Even if you are not able to donate your hair, please, please, please consider donating another way! What an awesome thing they are doing!
A long term goal~accomplished!
2nd long term goal~convince Jeremy that he likes it!

Boy Vs. Boy

In honor of the Olympics, the Deuce have decided to make their own event, a staring contest. The first to blink takes the Silver.

M.I.A

Sorry for the gaps between posts. This week has been a whirlwind! In the last week Jeremy and I celebrated our 6th anniversary (Aug. 3) and his birthday (Aug. 10). It's been absolutely crazy around here! It seems as if we've had something going almost every night. To add injury to insult, I don't even have any fun pictures to post from the festivities. Unfortunately my camera broke. Okay, so it didn't just break, I had it in the diaper bag and a half full bottle leaked milk all over it and fried the LCD screen. *Sigh*
On the upside, Jeremy and I leave Friday for New Orleans. We're taking a quick weekend trip just the two of us. The Deuce are going to Grandpa's house and hopefully a fun time will be had by all! This will our third time to NO but our first time since Hurricane Katrina. We're anxious to see what the city that is so dear to our hearts looks like. In particular, our favorite restaurant is still standing but did have quite a bit of damage. It will be interesting to see how it's changed. Saturday night, we have tickets to the pre-season Saints game. Jeremy can't wait to see the Superdome since it's been redone and I can't wait to eat! That is my hands down, without a doubt, favorite thing to do in this city! The food is AMAZING!! All things aside though, I still have the nagging, "you are leaving your babies behind" little voice running through my head. I hoping I can quiet that voice with a beignet from Cafe Du Monde. HA!

A Boy and His Cup

Just Another Saturday Afternoon...

watching the Olympics with daddy.

Hmmmm....

Some strange things have been "popping up" at our house lately. I'm no fortune teller but I predict that a wave of change is about to hit the Sloan house.
