28 Weeks

I simply cannot believe that I am now in the third trimester! And I've got to STOP doing these pictures at the end of the day...I look so...um...bleh. I have to say, I've been a little leery of reaching this point in the pregnancy. After all, it was at 27 weeks when I developed Preeclampsia and preterm labor with the boys. It was 28 weeks when I came home from the hospital on all kinds of different medications and with a contraction monitoring system. And it was the next 6 weeks that we lived on edge wondering which contraction was going to be the final straw and we were going to have our babies. So, it's been with much apprehension that I've approached 28 weeks this time...and my OB knows it! Thankfully, at my appointment yesterday, she tried to put my mind to rest by checking to make sure that I haven't started to dilate or show any other signs of premature labor. She also performed a fFN (or a Fetal Fibronectin Test) which if negative indicates a 99.99% chance that you will not deliver your baby in the next 2 weeks. Both checked out great! So while we still have some time between now and a healthy full-term baby, our chances of getting there this time seem more promising!
As for the rest of the appointment, well, here's the stat's...Baby's heartrate was 147 bpm(cause it's a BOY, people!). I measured at 31 weeks (yikes!). I gained 6 1/2 lbs for a total of 19.6 lbs (double yikes!). I got my orders for the glucose test (yuck!). And I start going every two weeks (anyone want to volunteer to babysit?!) Fun times!

Patty Cake, Patty Cake

This past Friday, I celebrated my 27th birthday at Mimi and Pop's house, complete with my favorite meal, Thanksgiving dinner! My little baker's men helped make me a birthday cake too!

They sprinkled...
...and taste tested...
...and sprinkled some more...
...maybe a little too much...
...but never too much taste testing!
No cake has ever tasted sweeter!

The Value of a Dollar Nickle

I ask you, what can be sweeter than a daddy spending time with his children? Who cares if that time spent together is used to discuss the importance of saving and budgeting...

We HEART the State Fair!

September starts my and Jeremy's favorite time of year. Not only because the changing of the seasons is absolutely beautiful but also because the cooler nights beckon cozy fires and encourage bowls of hot green chile stew and buttered tortillas. September also means State Fair time. A chance to walk the fair grounds, grab the once a year Indian Taco and Funnel Cake, and check out the variety of farm animals, rides, and exhibits. And that, my friends, is exactly what we did today.

While mom and dad preferred green chile corn dogs, the boys noshed on Slush Puppies and kettle corn...

And although there were White Tiger shows, dogs jumping off docks, giant horse mascots, traditional Native American dancing, horse shows, vintage cars, acrobatics, carnival rides, and live music...the ABSOLUTE highlight of the day was the petting zoo. I tell ya, sheer delight, that $2 Dixie Cup of animal food brought us today. I guess it really is the simple things.

Ben getting friendly with the cow.
Brave boy, just reached right in there!
A.B. not lovin it so much (and mom trying her best to encourage her boy by rubbing that cow's nappy head)
Ben was absolutely beside himself feeding the goats. I wish I had a video camera because the laughter was totally contagious :)
Not even a little afraid!
A.B. feeding the goat-still a little unsure though.
This sheep was SO much bigger than Ben! He was totally unaware though. He just kept laughing at his hand being licked to death!
Hungry little goats!
I'm sure they haven't been fed in like 30 seconds!
They were practically coming over the gate to get to our food!
FINALLY our big boy let go of mom so he could pet this mama goat! Just in time to leave!
What a lovely time AND a lovely time of year! Yay for Fall!

26 Weeks

Can a baby "feel" big in utero? No, seriously?! I feel like there's a small toddler rolling around in my belly most of the day! The kicks are up and down and sideways...and non-stop! It usually keeps me up for a good hour at bedtime and wakes me in the morning. I don't ever remember feeling the boys move like this and I especially don't remember my belly moving like it does now either. For just a little less than 2 pounds, this baby has some spunk!

I'm still feeling good and for the most part, no pregnancy "symptoms." On a couple different occasions, I've felt the rib pain that we all know and love so much. But other than that, still pretty comfortable, just t-i-r-e-d. I have my last monthly OB visit on the 29th and then we go to twice a month. That, paired with the fact that my pregnancy ticker has us under 100 days, tells me we're getting MUCH closer.

In a Nutshell...

...MOST of what's been going on with us lately...

Selling our Trailblazer, buying a Suburban...from North Carolina, getting ripped off by our car shipping company, finagling to get our new car here in time for our old car to go, celebrating the arrival of our new 7 passenger vehicle, learning to drive said 7 passenger vehicle, saying goodbye to Ben's developmental specialist, finally attending Ben's ECEP appointment, moving forward with COMPLETELY NEW physical therapy plan, praying for direction for treatment, constructing our new playroom, cleaning out and organizing our garage, selling unwanted things on Craigslist, shopping thriftily for our new nursery, adjusting to life without Deuce, feeling relieved that he found a happy home on an acre of land with lots of animals and a new family, wishing I was taking pictures but always forgetting my camera, counting down the days until our weekly "date night" resumes on the 24th, learning to prioritize based on the needs of the moment, trying to squeeze out the last drops of summer, embracing the start of our favorite time of year in Albuquerque, the fall, enjoying time with friends, missing family, dreaming about baking, loving on some little boys, wading through what seems like an endless sea of teething and molars, dabbling with potty training, growing a baby brother or sister for those said little boys, being busy as ever but trying to relish EVERY moment, oh, and hoping to be back on track with regular updates. :)

Demo Detail, Pt. II

This Labor Day weekend has proven to very laborious! Between clearing our sunroom of the 19 million bricks that covered the floor, we Jer also had to remove baseboards and a utility sink and clean and prep the floor for tile. The floor leveling begins tomorrow and the tile is set to start Wednesday. I couldn't be more excited or ready to have my front door and entry way back! Isn't it amazing how demolition on the parts of your house that you find hideous can totally THRILL you?! Maybe it's the pregnancy hormones and maybe it's just OCD but I cannot wait to mop this room. It's something I haven't been able to do in the 6 years we've lived here!

24 Weeks

I had my monthly OB appointment yesterday. Baby looks great! Heartbeat was 152 bpm and my belly measured at 27 weeks, which the doc said could be an indicator that it's a big baby! What a change of pace that would be for us! Only time will tell...15 more weeks!
