The Broken Boy Blues-Updated

Our Benny boy is doing a lot better this evening! Still a far cry from 100% but at least we've seen a couple of smiles tonight :) Here are a few pictures for those of you who have been asking...
Yup, that's his collar bone!
Lovely, huh?
-------------------------------------------
Between returning Monday night from a five day trip to Austin and a half day ER trip yesterday, there are about a million and half things that are in need of my somewhat immediate attention. Since it's almost been two weeks since I posted though, and two of my three are still sleeping, I decided to allow myself ten quick minutes this morning to post about my sweet Benjamin who took a nasty spill in the backyard yesterday morning. While we're not really sure what or how it happened; what we do know is that he fell and on his collarbone. After a couple of x-rays, two doc's and a radiologist say it's not broken but that it's either a green stick fracture or a separated ligament or tendon. Either way, it is extremely painful and our poor guy is not up for much more than sitting with mom or dad and watching movies. And since there's not much they can do  to treat a collar bone injury except wait for it to heal, we're just relying on pain relievers every four hours and the tiniest sling EVER. I seriously think the hospital borrowed it from a teddy bear in the gift shop or something : )
All in all, our boy is fairing well, despite his ouchiness. His ability to still try and milk us for fruit snacks is a good reminder of that. I think he ate approximately 47 bags yesterday, as opposed to the usual strict allotment of one! And while yesterday was quite the long day and we all hit the sheets a little run down, I've been praying all morning long that a good night's sleep will make all the difference today.
Times up! Time for this nurse-momma to hand out some fruit snacks medicine!

My heart aches for little Ben. Talked with your mom last night and she filled me in. There is nothing like your own getting hurt and feeling all the pain and emotion he is going through. Hang in there and prayers are being lifted for you and your family. Love you Aunt Teresa

I'm glad to see the slight humor you still have amongst all the chaos. This too shall pass, but I am placing my bet that with three boys there will be plenty more boo-boos! My money is still on Ben, who will be busted for being on the roof some day thinking he is superman! I love you Bennie. Grandma sends her love and kisses.

That story is all too familiar! My sweet Joci broke her collar bone when she was in kindergarten! She was crying and crying in horrible pain (well she was quite the drama queen by nature anyway) so I passed it off as not a big deal...until her WHOLE shoulder/chest/neck area started swelling up majorly!!! Poor baby!!
Prayers for your sweet Ben!
Love you girl!
